One thing that stands
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor 13:4-8, &13
This love Paul speaks of is slow to lose patience - it looks for a way of being constructive. It is not possessive, remembering the object of love is a gift. Love is not anxious to impress nor does it cherish inflated ideas of its own importance. Love has good manners and does not pursue selfish advantage. Love is not touchy, believing that love is the bottom of any treatment or action. Love gives the benefit of the doubt. If the doubt persists, react in love. Love does not keep account of evil or gloat over wickedness, it is glad with all good when truth prevails. Love knows no limits of its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope.
It can outlast anything. It is in fact, one thing that still stands when all else has fallen. If I stand, let me stand on the promise that Love will pull me through.
